How you respond emotionally to your day to day experiences will, in all probability, be the main influence on your capacity to live an enriched and balanced life. These responses are often habitual and unconscious. Effective and long lasting emotional healing requires these patterns to be identified and cleared.

The Affect Bridge in Counselling

The affect bridge is a useful means to find the origin of the pattern. As the name implies this forms a bridge between affects or emotional experiences. In counselling we will identify and activate a current feeling which is unwelcome or confusing. You will be invited, in a relaxed and calm state to move back to the first point in time where this feeling was felt. This will normally put you right in the situation, in which the subconscious mind learned the problem-state.

Once uncovered, the emotion can then be dealt with, typically in trance.
